27th edition of the World Bodypainting Festival - Celebration of Art and Creativity
The World Bodypainting Festival 2024 once again invited the talented art community to the city of Klagenfurt, Austria. As the world’s leading event for bodypainting, this year’s festival created a vibrant stage for art, creativity, and limitless imagination.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the festival is its ability to connect people. Whether professionals or newcomers, everyone shared a passion for body art. Networking opportunities were plentiful, with artists and photographers collaborating to capture stunning images that will inspire for years to come. Brands and sponsors also played a key role, showcasing the latest innovations in bodypainting materials and techniques.

From the 19th to 21st of September the festival’s Messe Arena was buzzing with energy as artists showcased their breathtaking skills. The competition categories ranged from classical techniques to special effects, UV painting, facepainting, creative make-up and for the first time was introduced the WBF Drag Make-up Award - allowing for a diverse display of talent. Each masterpiece told a unique story, bringing together culture, fantasy, and artistic expression in the most spectacular way on the theme “The Power of Symbols: A Cultural Journey”,and “Time Travel – what is your destination?” for the Online Awards.
The World Bodypainting Festival is more than just a competition—it’s a cultural experience. Attendees enjoyed a rich program filled with music, fashion shows, and performances that added to the festival’s electrifying atmosphere. Workshops and demonstrations allowed aspiring artists to learn from industry professionals, making the event not just a spectacle but also an educational hub for creativity.
The World Bodypainting Academy, held in the days leading up to the main event, gave participants an exclusive chance to refine their techniques under the guidance of internationally renowned artists. This hands-on experience continues to be a highlight for those looking to expand their skills and push artistic boundaries.
